Money Still Available for BWC Transitional Work Grants

Money Still Available for BWC Transitional Work Grants

Over the summer, the Ohio Bureau of Workers’ Compensation (BWC) began accepting applications for the latest round of Transitional Work Grants. Grant money is still available for employers wishing to participate.

BWC’s Transitional Work Grants program gives employers the opportunity to hire a professional transitional work developer to assist with the development of BWC-approved policies and procedures focused on best practices and early return to work. The program is open to all private and public taxing district employers (cities, counties, townships, school districts, etc).

BWC has allocated $3 million towards the program and expects approximately 790 employers to participate. The last time BWC offered this program, ERC Preferred Partner CareWorks was able to assist over 3,000 employers with the development of their programs. CareWorks is once again ready to assist employers with the development of a BWC recognized transitional work program.

BWC requires employers to pay a certified developer for the development of the program. BWC will then reimburse employers up to 75% of the cost of the program. Included in the cost of the program is the creation of transitional work policies and procedures as well as functional job analyses.

Completion of the program may also assist eligible employers in meeting BWC’s requirements for participation in the Transitional Work Bonus program (which can yield up to a 10% savings off pure premium). The deadline for receipt of the bonus application is October 31, 2012 for the January 1 to December 31, 2013 program period for private and public employers.

Employers wishing to apply must meet certain criteria as outlined by BWC. Ready to learn more? Contact Ron Lucki at CareWorks, (614) 760-3510 or email at [email protected]
