Technical training is more than just basic electrical skills and machinery troubleshooting. It’s moved beyond the warehouse and factory. The advancements of technology in society, especially in the business world, have transformed the associations of what constitutes as “technical training.”

Lean concepts have been around for quite some time—starting in the auto manufacturing industry. Even so, many companies today are just beginning to investigate what a Lean implementation could do for their business. No matter the company's industry—manufacturing, service, or otherwise—Lean processes offer organizations of all types and sizes methods to identify and reduce waste, which positively impacts your employees, customers, and the bottom line.

Information Technology (IT) continues to be an area of exceptional growth in the job market, both nationally and locally. Using data from the 2013 ERC Salary Survey, the average median salary growth of various occupational categories within IT, as set by the Bureau of Labor Statistics, can be seen below. The positive salary growth this figure illustrates is unsurprising when two key factors are considered.

Update (1/10/13): As of January 10, 2013 over 400 applications have been submitted for the Ohio Incumbent Workforce Training Voucher Program. According to the Ohio Development Services Agency (formerly Ohio Department of Development), many more companies have begun applications. The Ohio Development Services Agency is still encouraging companies to apply for funding.
